Subject: Delay in processing of PLI/RPLI claims

 

This is with reference to complaints being received in Circles and PLI Directorate in connection with delay in processing of PLI/RPLI claims due to non-compliance of extant procedures already laid down in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other instructions issued by Directorate of PLI. In order to ensure that the claims are settled within the timelines prescribed in the Citizen Charter, the following important points are reiterated for convenience of Circles and CPCs:

 

In case of request received for sanction of loan, original policy bond may not be endorsed or retained as prescribed vide SOP on processing of loan requests circulated vide letter no. 25-04/SOP/2020-LI dated 08.10.2020.

 

Ii In case of claims (maturity/death) against APS policies, no original case file is required if the claimant submits original policy bond along with his/her claim. However, if original policy bond is not submitted by the claimant and scanned file is available in CIS, only original policy bond may be called for settlement of claim. Further, in case scanned file is not available in CIS, case file may be called for and claim settled accordingly. The requisite documents/file shall be sent latest by the next working day of receipt of such request. SOP for handling APS PLI cases circulated vide letter no. 29-2/APS/2017-LI (Part-II) dated 10.11.2020 may be referred.

 

In case of claims (maturity/death) for policies other than APS policies, 'Letter of Indemnity may be accepted in lieu of original policy bond and claims shall not be delayed for want of original policy bond. SOP for handling of death claim cases circulated vide letter no. 25-04/SOP/2020-LI dated 18.08.2020, SOP for handling of maturity cases issued vide letter no. 25-04/SOP/2020-LI dated 21.09.2020 and clarification issued vide letter no. 25-04/SOP/2020-LI dated 24.03.2021 may be referred.

 

2. Circles shall ensure that all claims/service requests received in connection with PLI/RPLI policies are attended on priority and cases are settled within the prescribed citizen charter norms.

Subject: Ad-hoc Bonus to casual labour – information regarding.

Sir/Madam,

 

Department of Expenditure is examining the issue of ad-hoc bonus to casual labour. It has sought information on the following points. Number of casual labours working. (ii) Whether the casual labours have been appointed directly for Government of India or they are working on contractual basis and date of appointment. If appointment directly for Government of India, provisions and reasons for the same. What are the present wages of casual labours, and annual financialImplications due to grant of ad-hoc bonus to existing casual labours.

 

3.      The Circles are requested to furnish point-wise information urgently, so that same could be furnished to Department of Expenditure.
